Auth0 migration

Migrate from Auth0 to Authdog

Move users, identity connections, roles, and application access to Authdog through a staged migration designed to protect sign-in continuity.

Bring your identity data

Keep users, not legacy constraints

Map existing identities into Authdog while your current system keeps serving production traffic. Validate data and sign-in behavior before changing application routes.

User profiles and verified email state
Social and enterprise identity links
Application roles and organization membership
Metadata needed by your authorization model

Migration plan

Move in four controlled steps

01

Export from Auth0

Inventory Auth0 tenants, applications, connections, actions, roles, and user metadata. Export each source tenant and record any custom claim transforms.

02

Map users and access

Map Auth0 identities and verified emails to stable Authdog user records, then recreate social and enterprise connections with provider-specific credentials.

03

Preserve sign-in continuity

Choose a password strategy based on what your Auth0 tenant can export. Use compatible hashes where available, or migrate credentials progressively when users next sign in.

04

Cut over in stages

Run both systems during a defined transition window. Move one application or user cohort at a time, monitor failures, then retire Auth0 callbacks and credentials.

Cut over without a big-bang release

Run migration rehearsals against an isolated Authdog environment. Compare user counts, identity links, claims, and authorization outcomes. Switch production only after your acceptance checks pass.

Auth0-specific checks

  • Map Auth0 user_id values to external identifiers before import.
  • Recreate Actions, Rules, and custom claims as explicit Authdog flows or application logic.
  • Verify every callback, logout, and web-origin URL in each environment.
  • Test account linking for users with multiple Auth0 identities.
  • Plan progressive password migration when password hashes are unavailable.
