Vimeo signs users in with their Vimeo account — the connector for video tooling and creator platforms that read or publish videos.
Copy the redirect URI
In the Authdog console, select the project and environment, open Authentication > Providers, find Vimeo, and click Enable. Copy the redirect URI shown in the form:
https://identity.authdog.com/api/v1/callback/<connectionId>Create the application
- Open the Vimeo developer apps page and create an app.
- Fill in the name, description, and app URL.
- Under Authentication, add the redirect URI from Authdog as a callback URL.
- Copy the Client Identifier and Client Secret.
Configure Authdog
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Client ID | The Vimeo Client Identifier |
| Client Secret | The Vimeo Client Secret |
Save, then toggle the connection active.
What Vimeo returns
Authdog requests the public email scopes and reads the profile from https://api.vimeo.com/me.
The /me endpoint returns the user URI, display name, avatar, and — with the email scope — the account email.
Vimeo user URIs look like /users/12345; the numeric portion is the stable identifier.
Test it
- Open your environment's hosted sign-in page, or link to
https://identity.authdog.com/api/v1/signin/<connectionId>. - Select the Vimeo button and complete the flow.
- Confirm the user appears under Users in the console with a Vimeo identity linked.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause |
|---|---|
invalid_scope |
The app was not granted the email scope by Vimeo |
| Redirect or callback URL error | The URI registered with the provider does not match Authdog's exactly |
| Works in one environment only | Each environment has its own connectionId, and so its own redirect URI to register |
